Trustee Recruitment

The success of our organisation relies upon the personal commitment and active involvement of our Board of Trustees. As a charitable company, the Board of Trustees is the overarching body that takes on the legal and regulatory responsibilities and oversees the governance of the organisation. The Board is chaired by Ray Snowdon and currently has 13 serving trustees with a broad range of professional backgrounds, skills and experience - click here for more details

Members of the Board are required to have performed at a strategic level and we are particularly interested in receiving nominations or applications from individuals with knowledge of the following sectors:

  • Further Education
  • Voluntary and Community
  • Private Trainers
  • Local Authority
  • Schools

We are also keen to recruit individuals with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Curriculum Offer
  • Quality Assurance
  • Regulatory Compliance

OCN North East Region is committed to ensuring that the appointment process is open, transparent and based on merit and therefore nine of the fifteen seats on the Board are open to election through the membership, with the remaining six seats available for co-option by the elected Board. The Board currently meets five times a year, which includes attendance at the AGM. While the role is unremunerated, travel and out of pocket expenses are paid.

If you are passionate about learning and would like to be involved with OCN North East Region at a strategic level then the Board of Trustees would like to hear from you.

Further information and an application pack are available from Linden Cook, Company Secretary, OCN North East Region, 1 Palmer Road, South West Industrial Estate, Peterlee, Co Durham SR8 2HU, by email to linden.cook@ocnner.org.uk or by telephone on 0191 518 6550. Alternatively, you can contact Louise Morritt, Chief Executive, for an informal discussion about the role of trustee.
