Drawing upon NOCN's experience of the Foundation Learning trials, this briefing will cover the introduction of Foundation Learning, and how it fits into the QCF. It will outline the essential elements of a successful Foundation Learning programme using credit based learning.

Objective

The briefing will cover the introduction of Foundation Learning, and how it fits into the QCF. It will outline the essential elements of a successful Foundation Learning programme using credit based learning.

Session Content

Participants will:

  • Gain an appreciation of the changing structure of vocational qualifications and the place of Foundation Learning and Functional Skills within this area.
  • Develop an awareness of the key features of a Foundation Learning programme
  • Gain practical experience in developing courses for learners
  • Learn about the range of National Open College Network (NOCN) Qualifications suitable for a Foundation Learning Curriculum.
