NOCN Internal Verifier Award (IVA)
Aims
The NOCN Internal Verifier Award (IVA) is a Level 3, certificated course which covers the theory and practice of internal moderation/verification.
This course is aimed at those people who work in a range of education and training settings, who have significant experience of carrying out internal moderation/verification.
(Please note: This is not a course for those people who are new to internal verification; the OCN North East Region offers sessions covering the basic requirements for internal verification, which are free to member organisations.)
Completing the Internal Verifier Award (IVA) will enable you to work towards achieving AIVS. Practioners with AIVS will be able to confirm learner achievement by signing the Recommendation for the Award of Credit (RAC).
Target Group
Practising Internal Verifiers who wish to gain a qualification and specifically those working towards Approved Interal Verifer Status (AIVS)
Objective
The Award will support and enhance the internal quality assurance processes of your Centre.
Session Content
Achieving the Award
The Internal Verifier Award is 9 credits i.e. 90 notional hours
To achieve each unit of the Award, the following assessment tasks must be completed:
Unit 1: Understanding Internal Verification (6 Credits) delivered over 4 days
4 Mandatory Assessments to be completed.
- An induction pack for tutors delivering Credit Based Learning (CBL).
- An Internal Verification Practice File for your Centre/Organisation/Department.
- Equality and Diversity in CBL.
- Evaluation of internal verification processes with action planning for future developments.
(These tasks will create a work-based reference resource for you and your organisation.)
Unit 2: Internal Verification in Practice (3 credits) self-directed learning with tutorial support.
2 Mandatory Assessments which will include a portfolio based on your practice in the internal verification of OCN courses over a year, and your role in supporting tutors.
- Evidence of internal verification for at least one learning course, covering all stages of the process.
- Overall evaluation of the internal verification process with reference to the initial Action Plan. Fully revised Action Plan.
