OCN North East Region Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy (QCF)

The Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy (QCF) is a vocational qualification which aims to develop the skills, knowledge, understanding and competencies of learners intending to gain employment as a Civil Funeral Celebrant.

The work of a Civil Funeral Celebrant is challenging and varied and requires both sensitivity and discretion. It involves meeting with the bereaved to develop and deliver a funeral, which is constructed around a distinctly personal and accurate tribute to the life of the deceased.

Increasingly, funeral directors now offer this as an alternative to the established religious ceremony and many thousands of civil funeral ceremonies are carried out annually throughout the UK. With the growth of this new choice there is a need for more, appropriately qualified people to conduct such funerals.

The qualifcation consists of 17 mandatory units which must be completed to achieve the qualifcation.

The minimum age for access to this qualification is 19.
