Our mission is to support learning and widen opportunity by recognising achievement through credit-based courses and qualifications.
From small beginnings
OCN North East Region has a long history in the North East. The early days of Open College Networks in the region began with sub regional groups such as Open College Network Northumberland and Teesside Region Open College Network. Further networks developed and amalgamated over the following years, until a merger of Open College Network (TROCN) and North East Open College Network created the first regional OCN for the North East in 2005. 25 years of OCNs
National Strength, North East Service
There are OCNs across the whole of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These are eleven independent organisations representing and serving each region or country, plus the National Open College Network that acts as the official Ofqual Awarding Body. See the NOCN map of OCNs.
